First responders are twice as likely to experience PTSD, and spend a significant amount of time operating in the “fight or flight” mode ( the sympathetic nervous system which is a part of the Automatic Nervous System {that which operates largely independently of our conscious control including digestion, heart rate, and nervous response}). Yoga helps to regulate the other part of the Automatic Nervous System (the parasympathetic nervous system) which works to relax and slow down the bodies response. This will not only improve the health of the First Responder, but will increase their job skill and effectiveness. Myoga is organizing a series of sessions designed specifically for first responders and would greatly appreciate some feedback in terms of what is needed, and when the best day and time would be.
