We offer a variety of drop in and pre-registered yoga classes for adults aged 16+.

Our studio can hold 25 mats comfortably, and our average class size is 10.

We are fully equipped with bolsters, blocks, straps, blankets, and specialty class props such as chairs and slings.

We rent mats for $1, and sell mats and other yoga goods in our retail shop such as joy-a-toes, bolsters, eye pillows etc.

YIN and NIDRA YOGA

Mondays 5:15pm with Roxanne.  75 min class. Drop in available when space permits. All levels.

Long held floor postures (up to 5 minutes per pose).  Deeply therapeutic, meditative and nourishing; this class operates on three basic principles: 1) Use of breath to ease tension 2) Hold poses for time 3) Allow without pushing. Find an appropriate place (an edge) that allows you to soften and move deeper simultaneously.  Students feel deeply relaxed, and uplifted and often report a (good!) soreness in the muscles the next day.  Each class will end with a 20-30 minute Yoga Nidra session. Yoga Nidra is a state of deep relaxation allowing the brain waves to hover between sleep and wakefulness. It’s a dream like quality that allows for deep healing and regeneration, and is a powerful tool for intention setting.

ASHTANGA YOGA

Wednesdays 6pm and Sundays 10am (Starting Sept 22)with Liat. 75 min class. Drop in available when space permits. All levels.

Ashtanga is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

Ashtanga yoga literally means "eight-limbed yoga," as outlined by the sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. According to Patanjali, the path of internal purification for revealing the Universal Self consists of the following eight spiritual practices:

Yama [moral codes]
Niyama [self-purification and study]
Asana [posture]
Pranayama [breath control]
Pratyahara [sense control]
Dharana [concentration]
Dhyana [meditation]
Samadhi [absorption into the Universal]

KARMA HATHA FLOW

Thursdays and Mondays 7-8:15pm with Lesley. 75 min class. Drop in available when space permits.

This is an all levels hatha flow community class accessible to all. Karma is an exchange of energy recognizing that what we put out we get back. Your donation for this class is an expression of what you receive. Suggested donation $5-$20.

YOGA for ATHLETES

Saturdays 10:30am with Mary. 90 min class. Pre-Registration ONLY.

Prepare to get your sweat on! This warm yoga class is designed for those who already have strength and are looking to improve motor control, flexibility, and range of motion. We’ll warm up with variations of Sun Salutations, and have tons of fun playing with all kinds of standing, balancing, twisting, folding, and back bending poses. We’ll use the wall to get upside down, and each other to find more depth in poses. You’ll learn some fundamentals in the first session including Ujjai Breath and Uddiana and Mula Bhanda, as well as modifications for certain poses. In the second series we’ll build on the foundations and begin to take flight with all kinds of handstand and arm balancing postures!

IYENGAR YOGA

Thursday 9am with Andrea. 90 min class. Beginner level.

The Iyengar method develops strength, endurance, and optimal body alignment, in addition to flexibility and relaxation. The Iyengar method develops self-awareness, intelligent evaluation, and profound inward reflection. Standing poses are emphasized at the beginning to build strength and ease of movement, increase general vitality, and improve circulation, coordination, and balance. Postures for deep relaxation are also introduced from the beginning. Gradually, sitting and reclining postures, forward bends, inversions, backbends, twists, arm balances, and flowing sequences are introduced.

Iyengar Yoga emphasizes precision of alignment in the yoga poses. Why is this important? People tend to stretch from their more flexible areas and rely on their better-developed muscles for strength, thus reinforcing postural habits. Iyengar Yoga encourages weak parts to strengthen and stiff areas to release, thus awakening and realigning the whole body. As the body moves into better alignment, less muscular work is required and relaxation increases naturally.

ARKAYA YOGA

Wednesdays 10am and 7:15pm with Ross. 75 min class. Drop in available when space permits.

Arkaya means "light," "healing" and "inspiration." The practices are rooted in classical Yoga and traditional Tantra and have been systematized by the founder of Arkaya, Yogacharini Maitreyi.

This class is gentle & mindful, suitable for all levels of practitioner. Students will learn to cultivate the invaluable foundations of a true yoga practice - awareness and alignment of body, emotions and mind along with proper breathing. The result is a state of relaxed, alert wellbeing and alignment with one's higher mind and potentials. With consistent practice, students will begin to experience more ease in their lives and be able to respond rather than react to situations as they arise.

MATURE ADULT YOGA (50+)

Would you like to feel more flexible, less stiff and more relaxed and open in your body? This class is suitable for older adults who are new to Yoga or experienced students. Whether you are dealing with pain resulting from a car accident, an injury, experiencing chronic pain, or hold stress-related tensions, you will benefit by working at your own level. You will be guided to connect to the natural flow of your breath and do floor practices that gently warm up and open all areas of your body to release physical tensions. We will work with poses (asanas), breath (pranayama) and quietening practices (meditation and relaxation). I will invite you to cultivate both strength and flexibility while staying engaged, present and relaxed with whatever your experience is. Modifications will be offered to suit all levels of ability. You will be challenged to stretch your limits while learning in a safe way.

Each class will include a short Tensegrity* sequence to access the deep myofascial lines and explore connections from the core to the limbs. Please bring a blanket, and your own yoga equipment if you have it.

*The Tensegrity Repair Series was developed by senior Vijnana Yoga teacher Gioia Irwin. It is a sequence of movements designed to tone and strengthen the core and bring more flexibility and function to the energy network of the body’s connective tissue system (muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments). It helps to break down adhesions within and rehydrate fascia especially if you have had surgery and after injuries.
